93 is 93. From my knowledge there are only 3 companies that handle gasoline, Shell, EXXON and BP. So it comes from one of those 3.

How else is he supposed to afford the Lamborghini without putting Costco gas in it?

Costco in Burbank?

Except in Arizona we only have 91 unless you go to a specialty place. And 91 octane in AZ is shit even from the best places as various additives are added because of our air quality. There are also way more than three companies that produce gasoline, some of which are better than others. Off the top of my head, Sunoco, Valero, Lukoil, Conoco-Phillips, and Chevron are some of the larger companies missing form your list. There are also a plethora of smaller producers that put out crap gas. This is the gas you'll find at independent stations selling no name gas. Costco is selling whatever they get cheapest. I tuned my old WRX myself, and the certain brands knock much easier than others. There is a place here that sells 95 and 100 octane pump gas. I would think someone who drives such a car would opt for better gas. There is also a chevron next door which is a known high quality producer.

It's an Aventador 40th anniversary edition, you can tell by the paint job and the two pillars that sit on the side of the engine.

What's wrong with their gas? He's gotta buy it in bulk, he must burn through a lot of it...

It's whatever bargain basement gas they can find. Not good for high performance engines. Expensive cars are expensive.

To be fair, I looked into Costco gas about a year ago when I found out they were selling it. Turns out it actually ranks higher than almost all the other gas put out by other Top Tier brands by using something like 3x more detergents then everyone else and something about the way they refill their tanks that helps minimize more contaminants. In reality any gasoline that is on this list http://www.toptiergas.com/ should be really good.

Top tier rating is really good but results will vary by station. It just depends where you are. My m3 runs like shit on bp at my local station, but amazing at the Mobil. It just depends.

I agree it does depend and also varies station to station. What does your M3 do on BP gas? My step fathers car ran like crap on Shell gas it used to clog up the injectors on his van he told me.

In highly tuned cars you don't want lots of detergents. Detergents aren't gasoline, and they don't burn the same way.

The best way I could describe it is it idles like it has stage three cams. (Revving up and down). I've had other gas stations do it but not to that extent/not always. It also feels like a lack of power (most likely retarding the timing) and I get about 50-75 miles less a tank. (Huge when I barely get 300 miles to a tank). Shell or Mobil is what I usually use but only 93 octane.

I know detergents aren't gas but I was under the impression they kept deposits on injectors down, which in theory sounds like what you'd want for a performance engine. I feel that gasoline not treated with any detergent wouldn't be good long term but then again I don't have a Lambo lol

I might try Mobil, I'm still weary about Shell after that injection story but maybe it was his engine being already dirty.

Yes, they're good in that sense. They're great for normal road cars that aren't direct injected. On DI cars they aren't going to do anything as the fuel never touches the valves.

It all depends on the station owner and how they maintain the tanks/store the fuel/change their filters. I personally prefer shell but a couple of station owners here switched to 92 octane, so I have to get Mobil for 93.

Plus he can put in gas without being near poor people. You have to pay that membership fee to use those pumps, that eliminates a lot of the type of people that would come up and talk to the owner.

In a highly tuned car you dont run pump gas. you run 102 octane racing gas.

If your car only needs 91-93 it is NOT highly tuned only street tuned.

plus they take food stamps at Costco so they can shop for a bucket of orange cheese balls and lobster while they are there. (GOP told me something like that)
